Agile Methodology:
Agile Methodology is very popular methodology and is being used by many projects for quick software release.
How is Quick Release possible by following Agile Methodology?
In Agile Methodology one whole task is divided into small modules. And each module passes through all the steps of a SDLC.
Why is it divided into small modules?
The whole task/project is divided into small modules in order to handle easily and complete it. The modules should be clearly understood by all the team members involved.
What happens after the project is divided into small modules?
The modules are then prioritized by the product owner or BA responsible. The length of the sprint is decided as 2 or 4 weeks.
The prioritized modules are then included in the sprint .
Scrum Process:
Sprint Plan Meeting :
All the team members should proactively participate in the Sprint Plan Meeting. The meeting is scheduled to discuss the modules included in the sprint. And importantly estimate the development and test effort for each task in the module.
Retrospective Meeting:
Once the 2/4 weeks sprint is completed, retrospective meeting is scheduled. All the team members should proactively participate in this meeting too. This meeting can include show case, where the modules are demonstrated to the client and then feed back is taken.
The team then discusses
1.what was good in the Sprint
2.what went wrong/bad
3.what are the lessons learnt
This is a good opportunity for the whole team to discuss the issues that they are facing during the sprint to complete any task on time.
Product Backlog:
In real world many times it is seen that not all the modules that are present in the sprint are completed. Such modules are moved to backlog after reaching the sprint closure.
In the following sprint plan meeting, the items in the backlog are reviewed and moved to the current sprint or next sprint accordingly.
And if at all all the items in the sprint are completed before the sprint closure, items are reviewed and added to the sprint.
This is followed until all the items of the project are completed.
Burn down chart:
The burn down chart is where the progress of the sprint is seen.
How much effort is remaining against the estimated effort can be seen in a chart.
Scrum Master:
Scrum master is the role played by any one in the team. The responsibility of Scrum master is to facilitate the process and ensure that the team delivers value. They help remove impediments.
